Strategic planning of our power system is crucial to making smart, informed decisions in the long-term interests of Victorian energy consumers.

VicGrid is undertaking this Western Metropolitan Melbourne Reinforcement regulatory investment test for transmission (RIT-T) to assess the technical and economic benefit of credible options to maintain reliable and secure supply to the western metropolitan Melbourne area (including Geelong).

Project specification consultation report

The Project specification consultation report (PSCR) for this Western Metropolitan Melbourne Reinforcement RIT-T was published in March 2025, which represents step one of the public consultation process for this RIT-T.

The PSCR seeks feedback and advice on the identified need to invest and credible options to be assessed.

PSCR webinar

On 25 March 2025, a webinar was held to inform stakeholders of the key elements of the Western Metropolitan Melbourne Reinforcement PSCR.

We are committed to working with industry, government, investors and consumers to secure and shape Australia's energy future in the long-term interests of consumers. We value your feedback and advice on this RIT-T and are committed to ongoing dialogue with our stakeholders.

We will continue to provide updates as we move through this program and welcome your thoughts via our stakeholder engagement activities which will be announced on this page in the coming months. For more information, contact enquiries@vicgrid.com.au
