VicGrid and Transgrid have published a series of reports, including market modelling and supporting documentation, as part of the regulatory process for the Victoria to New South Wales Interconnector West (VNI West) project.
Project assessment conclusions report
The Project assessment conclusions report (PACR) represents the completion of the Regulatory Investment Test for Transmission (RIT-T) process and outlines the preferred option for VNI West.
We received a total of 533 submissions to the additional consultation report.
PACR Volume 1 and 2 published in May 2023 summarises the key themes from the submissions along with detailed responses, including how and where the submissions have influenced the identification of the preferred option.
Project assessment draft report
The Project assessment draft report (PADR) represents step 2 of the public consultation process for this RIT-T.
The PADR assesses and identifies the draft preferred transmission investment option which delivers the greatest net market benefits.
Project specific consultation report
The Project specific consultation report (PSCR) represents the first step of the public consultation process for the VNI West RIT-T and was published in December 2019 for consultation.
The PSCR seeks feedback and advice on the identified need for new transmission infrastructure and explores potential investment options to address this need.

- Project update 5 published 2 December 2022 discusses feedback, submissions and actions taken with regard to the VNI West PADR.
- Project update 6 published 23 February 2023, AEMO and Transgrid published a consultation report options assessment and commenced a 6-week engagement with communities, Traditional Owners and stakeholders around a new proposed preferred option.
